FAQ's

Why should our students use Google apps?
Accessibility, Communication, Collaboration, Feedback and Green...Due to the online nature of Google apps, they may be accessed from anywhere, on a variety of electronic devices, and at anytime. Students have the ability to share and work on the same document which means students can collaborate on a project at school or at their home. Collaboration and communication are essential 21st century skills to be learned. Teachers can share a document with an individual or groups of students and have the ability to give feedback during the course of the project. Google Apps are green since papers do not have to be printed and files do not have to be stored on the school’s server.

How does my child access Google Drive? With teacher guidance, students will activate their GAFE accounts at school. Students can then go to http://www.drive.google.com and log in with their WPS username.

How secure is my child from outside people?
Winchester Public Schools takes privacy and security of student information very seriously. Only staff members and students of WPS can access these Google Apps. They are not accessible by anyone outside of the WPS domain.

My child already has a Gmail account. Can they just use that one?
No. Gmail will only be used within the Winchester domain. Students will not be able to email outside this domain, nor receive emails outside the secure Winchester domain.
